Nestled in the heart of Springfield, NJ, a charming cape house found its new owners—an adventurous couple and their beloved dog—who were ready to infuse life into a home with great potential. The house, while full of character, came with its challenges, most notably in the form of two bathrooms that were far from functional. Both spaces were in desperate need of a complete overhaul, and the absence of a true master bathroom made it clear that a thoughtful renovation was crucial for the couple’s future plans of growing their family. From the start, the client’s love for color and bold, dark palettes became the guiding inspiration for the transformation. With a clear vision to maintain a sense of simplicity and modernity, we were given the freedom to experiment with rich textures and striking hues that elevated the space while preserving its cozy charm. The goal was to design two bathrooms that felt luxurious and functional—each space a reflection of the client’s personality, while also meeting the practical needs of their everyday lives.

In the master bathroom, we embraced deep, moody tones, pairing champagne bronze fixtures with matte tiles to create a high-contrast, visually compelling environment. The walls were adorned with bold, rich colors, creating a cocoon-like atmosphere that felt both sophisticated and inviting. A solid blue tiled tub became the star of the room, paired with sleek, modern fixtures that offered a touch of elegance without compromising on usability. Not to mention the demo of the existing linen closet to make way for a cabinet-style linen pantry and relocating the vanity.

The second bathroom, though smaller in scale, was no less impactful. Drawing on the same deep color palette, we mixed in textured elements like leather-inspired tiles and matte finishes, achieving a balance of luxury and practicality. The space was designed to feel open and airy despite its smaller footprint, with clever design tricks and subtle lighting to enhance the experience.

Throughout both rooms, we stayed true to the modern, simple aesthetic the clients desired, allowing the colors and textures to take center stage while ensuring the design was clean, functional, and easy to maintain. Every choice, from the materials to the layout, was made with an eye toward the future—ensuring these bathrooms could not only serve the couple today, but grow with them as they welcome the next chapter of their lives.
